Background
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on women-led small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which account for approximately 25% of economic activity in Mexico and Central America. These businesses lack the skills, networks, and capital necessary for sustainable and socio-environmentally responsible business models. The entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region is currently isolated, fragmented, and not focused on relevant issues such as digitalization, innovation, climate resilience, and gender equality. Investing in women-led businesses has a positive ripple effect on society, including family stability, health, education, community safety, and overall economic development.
WeCount is a campaign that aims to transform small growing businesses into drivers of positive impact and support them towards sustainability. It develops capabilities for businesses, helps them access new markets and financing, and promotes access to technologies for secure and transparent partnerships. WeCount offers three types of programs that are tailored to meet the specific objectives of businesses, designed to achieve tangible results during the program, and not just educational programs.
Cecilia Foxworthy found me on LinkedIn and following my nonprofit and marketing experience, reached out to ask me to do pro bono consulting and help design and execute a marketing campaign for Agora Partnerships' WeCount campaign. I am currently serving as an external consultant in this project, helping to raise awareness of Agora Partnerships and its mission.
